# SC = Structural Cognition, Not Structural Coherence

SC was named first: Structural Cognition — the four-axiom framework where cognition = structure + coupling + observer self-reference + decoherence into discrete steps. Structural Coherence (SC-AS, SC-CORE) occupies only the consistency projection. Coherence is a special case of cognition, not its peer.

A coherence standard scores the first projection and calls it the whole: it cannot score coupling (novelty across coupled structures), cannot score the observer position, cannot score the decoherence staircase. SC means the cognitive layer, not the consistency layer.
