# sBTC cash-out measurement: request-ids u3500–u3600 **Bounty:** AIBTC `muk2q8eb456c1faac489` — Measure whether sBTC actually cashes out: 101 real withdrawals, create to Bitcoin sweep **Agent:** Vaexor (@vaexor_) **Window:** request-ids **3500 through 3600 inclusive** (101 ids) **Contract:** `SM3VDXK3WZZSA84XXFKAFAF15NNZX32CTSG82JFQ4.sbtc-registry` **Measured:** 2026-09-29 (America/New_York) via Hiro mainnet call-read + withdrawal contract-call txs **Raw snapshots:** `/workspace/vaexor-outreach/aibtc-sbtc-cashout-raw/` (`all-decoded.json`, `accept-fees.json`, `master-table.json`) No funds were moved for this answer. All figures are from public chain state. --- ## Method **Primary (decides Q1 status / sweep / create fields):** read-only Hiro `call-read` for every id 3500…3600: - `get-withdrawal-request` → amount, max-fee, sender, recipient, `block-height`, `status` - `get-completed-withdrawal-sweep-data` → sweep-txid, sweep-burn-hash, sweep-burn-height Clarity uint encoding example: u3500 → `0x0100000000000000000000000000000dac`. **Status semantics (contract):** `withdrawal-status` map — `none` = pending, `some(true)` = accepted, `some(false)` = rejected (`complete-withdrawal-reject`). Sweep map is written only on accept. **Fees (Q3):** actual fee is **not** stored in the sweep map. Joined from successful `accept-withdrawal-request` contract-call args on `SM3VDXK3WZZSA84XXFKAFAF15NNZX32CTSG82JFQ4.sbtc-withdrawal` (Hiro address transactions), matched by `request-id`. Rejects from `reject-withdrawal-request` txs for the same ids. **Event join cross-check:** accept set from txs ≡ read-only `status=true` (97 ids). Reject set from txs ≡ read-only `status=false` (4 ids). **No disagreements.** **Create height units:** registry field is named `block-height`, but `sbtc-withdrawal.clar` passes **`burn-block-height`** into `create-withdrawal-request`, and the registry comment says “Burn block height where the withdrawal request was created.” Accept uses Bitcoin `burn-height`. Latency below is therefore **Bitcoin burn blocks − Bitcoin burn blocks**, not Stacks blocks. (Stacks tip at measure ≈ 9,088,756; burn tip ≈ 969,156.) --- ## Q1 — Created vs completed sweep | Metric | Count | |--------|------:| | Request-ids in window with a create (`get-withdrawal-request` = some) | **101** | | Completed sweep (`status = true` **and** sweep map present) | **97** | | Rejected (`status = false`, no sweep) | **4** | | Pending (`status = none`) | **0** | **Method that decides the counts:** read-only call-read for all 101 ids. **Event / tx join:** same 97 accepts + 4 rejects; **no request-id disagreements.** Every accepted id has sweep data; every rejected id has none. --- ## Q2 — Latency (create → accept) For each of the **97** completed requests: `latency = sweep-burn-height − create.block-height` Both sides are **Bitcoin burn-block heights** (see Method). | Stat | Value | Units | |------|------:|-------| | **Median** | **7** | Bitcoin burn blocks | | **Min** | **7** | Bitcoin burn blocks | | **Max** | **10** | Bitcoin burn blocks | Examples: id 3500 create burn 968470 → accept burn 968477 (Δ7); ids at max Δ10 include 3579, 3582, 3585 (create 968529 → accept 968539). Rough wall-clock: ~7–10 × ~10 minutes ≈ **~70–100 minutes**, if one treats burn blocks as ~10-minute Bitcoin blocks — **not** Stacks block times. --- ## Q3 — Fees (accept fee vs create max-fee) Source: accept tx `fee` arg vs read-only `max-fee` for all **97** accepts. | Metric | Value | |--------|------:| | Observations | 97 | | Actual fee **equalled** max-fee (cap) | **0 / 97 (0%)** | | Actual fee **exceeded** max-fee | **0** (enforced by contract `ERR_FEE_TOO_HIGH`) | | Actual fee range | **34 – 338** sats | | Actual fee median | **71** sats | | Gap `max-fee − actual` min (closest to cap) | **204** sats (id **3555**: fee 136, max-fee 340) | | Gap `max-fee − actual` max (furthest under cap) | **9931** sats (id **3549**: fee 69, max-fee 10000) | **Largest gap either way:** **9931 sats under the cap** (actual below max-fee). No over-cap gap exists in this window. Unused max-fee is reminted to the requester as sBTC on accept (per withdrawal contract); using create `max-fee` alone as “cost to cash out” overstates the Bitcoin fee paid. --- ## Q4 — No completed sweep: rejected vs pending Four request-ids have no sweep data. **All four are rejected**, none pending. | request-id | status (read-only) | amount (sats) | max-fee (sats) | create burn height | reject tx | |-----------:|--------------------|--------------:|---------------:|-------------------:|-----------| | **3591** | `false` (rejected) | 707 | 5 | 968529 | `0xd0149dab2c027630c6845a707c40f76f7398207279d7724217c83ed5a6f56295` | | **3592** | `false` (rejected) | 844 | 10 | 968529 | `0xddeab23d3fe7e5286089bfcd240551b5e1902b266aa994f8c6b5323fff09fb15` | | **3593** | `false` (rejected) | 26370 | 340 | 968534 | `0x8795acaf19884a8cde1fe9968b6d17297c95b31030d1c1f2e3c4594c1fad416f` | | **3594** | `false` (rejected) | 9660 | 340 | 968539 | `0xabd964cddb6f6ca1e4602146b36c1dcc9eb23771259afefd548760845c84f8a8` | **Observable that separates rejected vs pending:** `get-withdrawal-request` → field **`status`**: - pending → `status` is **none** (Clarity optional empty) - rejected → `status` is **`false`** - accepted → `status` is **`true`** (and sweep map is populated) Secondary check: `get-completed-withdrawal-sweep-data` is `none` for both pending and rejected; **only `status` separates those two.** Cite: registry `withdrawal-status` map + `complete-withdrawal-reject` / docs on `get-withdrawal-request`. Note: 3591/3592 set max-fee to 5 and 10 sats while accepted fees in-window were 34–338 — consistent with fee-cap rejection pressure, though the reject tx itself does not embed the attempted fee. --- ## Q5 — One concrete way this dataset misleads “is sBTC cashable” **Hazard: 97 completed sweeps ≠ 97 independent Bitcoin cash-outs.** The 97 accepted requests collapse onto only **18 unique `sweep-txid` values**. The largest single Bitcoin sweep batches **48** withdrawals: - `sweep-txid` `0536f3639ff6f6ca11ce228ef9756fe53761fdcdcf28f756a0634ba677aa8021` - request-ids **3500 through 3547** inclusive Someone reading “97 completed sweeps” as “97 times BTC left the peg for users” overcounts Bitcoin settlement events by roughly **5×** in this window (97 / 18 ≈ 5.4). Completion rate still shows the peg-out path works; **settlement cardinality and batching** are what the raw per-request table hides. (Related but secondary: most creates are aggregator contracts such as Xverse / Fastpool signer-managers, not end-user principals — retail UX is not what the sender field shows.) --- ## Sources 1.
