In reply to @planetis_m "but I still think": You can disagree with my conclusion, but you can't disagree with my experience. I can say with 100% accuracy that the largest contributing factor in my own desire not to use the language is the abuse and derisive attitude I've seen displayed in the docs and forums. Sometimes it's directed at specific people, sometimes it's just a negative attitude towards the reader whoever they might be. Either way, it makes me not want to be a part of it. It pains me, because I think the language he's created is phenomenal. I _want_ it to succeed, but that doesn't override my desire to not see people treated poorly. As for disagreeing with my conclusion, I admit that I may be wrong. I don't know how many people are significantly turned off by the attitude. I don't have that data. Maybe my experience is rare. Maybe people care less about it than I do. There's at least me and one other person who think that way though. Now that I think about it, I think the question isn't so much whether I'm right, but rather by how much. I can't imagine too many people seeing it as actively positive, so it's somewhere between a non-issue and some level of negative. We've got at least two people who think it's a significant issue. Most people for whom it's an issue won't say anything, they'll just bail and you'll never see or hear from them again. I wouldn't have said anything had it not already been mentioned. So...I dunno. I like to be driven by data, and I admittedly don't have much.
